Located about 1 hour south of Las Vegas, Nevada, the Newberry Mountains have butterfly populations of Papilio indra nr. martini, Papilio coloro, Anthocharis thoosa thoosa, Anthocharis cethura pima (more common in the flats to the west), Euphydryas chalcedona ssp., Chlosyne californica, Chlosyne neumoegeni, and Apodemia mormo.
