Larval Differences between Olympia vs. Large Marbles Part I
Two last instar larvae of the Euchloe olympia (left) and Euchloe ausonides (right). The differences in ~three-day old fifth instar larvae of the two taxa are subtle; but can be noted in the height of the gray region separating the lateral stripe from the mid-dorsum. In E. olympia, the height of this region is greater. Also, the hue of yellow stripe above this region is much brigher in E. ausonides as compared to E. olympia.

Larval Differences between Olympia vs. Large Marbles Part II
The brighter color hue of the yellow stripe is much more noticeable on E. ausonides (upper right) as compared to E. olympia (lower left).

Larval Differences between Olympia vs. Large Marbles Part III
The most noticeable differences in larval color patterns between E. olympia and E. ausonides fifth instar larvae come as the larvae approach pre-pupation. E. ausonides larvae grow lighter whereas E. olympia larvae grow darker making the differences quite noticeable where E. ausonides is shown on the left; E. olympia on the right.
